Red River War

Red River War (1874-1875) - An armed conflict between Comanche, Kiowa, Southern Cheyenne, and Arapaho Indian tribes and the United States Army in Texas from 1874 - 1875. The war was instigated by the U.S. Army to force the remaining bands of roaming Indians onto reservations in the Indian Territory (Oklahoma). The U.S. Army focused on the destruction of food supplies and horses to forced the tribes into the reservations. Relatively few casualties on both sides and the last of the roaming were forced onto the reservations.
