Posthumous portrait of Étienne de Perier (1686-1766).

Étienne de Perier, known as "Perier the Elder", born on 27 Feb 1686 in Brest Recouvrance and died on 1 Apr 1766 in the castle of Tréoudal in Saint-Martin-des-Champs (France). He was a French nobleman, colonial governor of French Louisiana from 1727 to 1733, privateer, lieutenant-general of the naval armies, and Grand-Croix of the royal and military order of Saint-Louis.
