This is the first of three gun emplacements of Battery Crenshaw. The carriage for the 3 inch rapid fire rifles would sit on top of the pedestal mount collar, which you see here. By the stairs on the right is a ammunition recess that stored the 3 inch shells for the rifle. Down below you can see the entrances to magazine rooms one and two. In the background you can see the Columbia River where the battery would fire upon ships that would attempt to harass the mine field and for practice drills.
