Camp Douglas (1) (1861-1865) - A U.S. Army fort and prison camp named for Illinois Senator Stephen Arnold Douglas, on whose property it was built after his death.

Camp Douglas (1) History

Established during the U.S. Civil War as an internment camp for Confederate soldiers.

Current Status

The camp was closed at the end of the war, and no remains of it subsist.
