Brigadier General Eleazar W. Ripley, 1782 to 1839 A congressman who had distinguished himself in the War of 1812. He was a member of the Massachusetts Legislature from 1810 to 1812. He served in the attack on York (now Toronto), Canada, and commanded a brigade under General Brown on the Niagara frontier, fighting at Chippewa and Niagara. He was prominent in defence of Fort Erie.
