Fort Thomas F Meagher (1867-1867) - A Montana Militia Fort established in 1867 near Springdale, Park County, Montana. Named Fort Thomas F Meagher after the then-acting Territorial Governor of Montana Thomas F Meagher who mysteriously died on 1 Jul 1867, reportedly drowning in the Missouri River (his body was never found). The fort was abandoned later in 1867. Also known as Fort Meagher.

History

A temporary Montana militia post established on 27 Aug 1867 in Park County, Montana. Fort Thomas F Meagher was located about four miles south of Fort Green Clay Smith on the Yellowstone River, in Yellowstone (McAdow) Canyon.

Abandoned later in 1867.
