Treaty of Paris (1898) - The Treaty of Paris (1898) was a treaty between United States and Spain signed in Paris to end the Spanish American War. As a result of the war the United States gained ownership of the Island of Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippines. Cuba became an autonomous country , occupied by United States armed forces. Cuba achieved Independence in 1902.
