Treaty of the Holston (2 Jul 1791) - The Treaty of the Holston was a treaty between William Blount, Governor of the Territory South of the Ohio River (In the name of President of the United States) and 48 Cherokee Chiefs. Signed on 2 Jul 1791 near James White’s Fort in present day Knoxville, Tennessee and proclaimed 7 Feb 1792.

The treaty ceded a large tract of Cherokee land east of the Clinch River, from Greeneville, 80 miles southwest and included present day Knoxville and Knox County. Additional stipulations established a protocol of behaviors by both parties.
