Fort McNeil

Fort McNeil (1837-1837) - A U.S. Army post established in 1837 on the north bank of Taylor Creek, Orange County, Florida. Named after 2nd Lt. John Winfield Scott McNeil who was killed in action near Dunlawton, 11 Sep 1837. Abandoned later in 1837.

History

Established 28 Dec 1837 as a stockade with two blockhouses on diagonal corners.

Current Status

No remains.
