Fort Pike (3)
From FortWiki
Fort Pike (3) (until sometime soon after 1803): a "small stoccado fort" named for its commandant, abandoned after Fort Pickering (2) was built. (Fortescue Cuming, Sketches of a Tour to the Western Country (1807‑1809), reprinted in Thwaites' Early Western Travels, p292). The early witness's report has been explained away by others; finally, there is doubt as to whether there was or was not a separate Fort Pike. Visited: No |
