Treaties of Velasco (14 May 1836) - The Treaties of Velasco were two treaties between interim President David G. Burnet of the Republic of Texas and President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna of Mexico signed on 14 May 1836 in Velasco, Texas, to end the Texas Revolution.

Two treaties were signed, one public and one secret. The public treaty required all Mexican troops to retreat south of the Rio Grande. In the secret treaty, Santa Anna promised to acknowledge the Republic of Texas and to recognize the Rio Grande as the border.

Mexico never recognized or ratified the treaty because Santa Anna was a prisoner at the time it was negotiated. Both parties failed to keep to all the terms of the agreement but the Mexican army did withdraw on 26 May 1836 and did not come back into the Republic of Texas.
