Pinkney Treaty (1795) - The Pinkney Treaty was a treaty between United States and Spain signed in San Lorenzo de El Escoria to define boundaries. Also known as the Treaty of San Lorenzo or the Treaty of Madrid. Thomas Pinckney negotiated the treaty for the United States and Don Manuel de Godoy represented Spain. The treaty was signed on 27 Oct 1795 and was presented to the United States Senate on 26 Feb 1796 and was ratified on 7 Mar 1796. It was ratified by Spain on 25 Apr 1796. The treaty was proclaimed on 3 Aug 1796. See Also: Links: |
