Treaty of Fontainebleau (1762) - The Treaty of Fontainebleau was a secret treaty between France and Spain signed during the French & Indian War. In the treaty France gave to Spain the country then known as Louisiana including New Orleans and the territory surrounding the city. The treaty was kept secret until 21 Apr 1764 well after the signing of the Treaty of Paris (1763) that ended the French & Indian War. See Also: Links: |
