Battle Control System-Fixed (BCS-F) (2007-Present) - The current U.S./Canadian air defense system designed to replace the processing and display elements of the JSS System Regional Operations Control Centers (ROCC)s. As implemented in 2007 the system included two operations centers and a support center in the contiguous United states, one operations center in Canada and one each in Alaska and Hawaii. NORAD command headquarters is located at Peterson AFB, Colorado. ![]() The equipment under the designation FYQ-156 replaced the 1980s era FYQ-93 displays and processors, the GSQ-235, ROCC - Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) Digital Information Link (RADIL), the FYQ-155, Advanced Interface Control Unit (AICU), and the NORAD Contingency Suite (NCS). While each of the two mainland sectors is assigned about half the county as an area of operations it is possible for either sector to assume control of the whole country. Release R3-3 (2013) increased system capacity to 15,000 system tracks in support of the single sector continental U.S. operations.
