Nez Perce War (1877-1877) - Started in June 1877 as a conflict between several bands of Nez Perce Indians and the U.S. Army. The Nez Perce refused to give up their lands and move to a reservation in Idaho. The conflict ended in October 1877 with the surrender of Chief Joseph to General Oliver O. Howard (Cullum 1634) and General Nelson A. Miles.
