Fort Mackenzie (1899-1918) - First established in 1899 by troops of the 25th U.S. Infantry at Sheridan, Sheridan County, Wyoming. Named in G.O. 100, 31 May 1899, after BG Ranald Slidell Mackenzie (Cullum 1967), U.S. Army, who died 19 Jan 1889. Abandoned in 1918. HistoryEstablished at the request of Wyoming Senator Francis E.
