Boardman Flight Strip

Boardman Flight Strip (1943-1945) - A World War II U.S. Army Airfield was established in 1943 near Boardman, Morrow County, Oregon. Named Boardman Flight Strip after the location and the type of airfield. Used as an emergency landing airfield for military aircraft on training flights at the Boardman Bombing Range. Closed in 1945 after the end of WWII and was turned over for local government use by the War Assets Administration (WAA). Now Boardman Airport is operated by the Port of Morrow as a public airport. History Established during World War II as an emergency landing airfield for military aircraft on training flights at the Boardman Bombing Range. Operated under the direction of Walla Walla Army Airfield. The landing strip was reportedly activated in December 1943 and was carried on the U.S. Government property records as late as December 1945. Current Status Now a Civil Airport operated by the Port of Boardman as an unattended airstrip with a single 4200' asphalt runway (4/22).
