Battery Fort Point (1943-1946) - Battery Fort Point was a 3 inch coastal gun battery built during World War II on the top Barbette tier of old Fort Point (3) , San Francisco County, California. Battery construction started 25 Jul 1942, was completed 13 Aug 1942 and transferred to the Coast Artillery for use 1 Jun 1943 at a cost of $ 1,361.02. Deactivated in 1946.

World War IIPart of the Harbor Defense of San Francisco. Originally built as a World War II coastal gun battery on the top Barbette tier of Old Fort Point on Fort Winfield Scott. Armed with four 3" M1902MIMI guns mounted on M1902 Barbette carriages transferred from other batteries in the area. The concrete platforms for the guns were poured on top of U.S. Civil War era gun platforms. During World War II, Old Fort Point was occupied by about 100 soldiers who manned searchlights and these four rapid-fire 3" guns as part of the protection of a submarine net strung across the entrance to San Francisco Bay.

Current StatusPart of the Golden Gate Recreation Area (GGNRA) administered by the National Park Service. No period (World War II) guns or mounts in place.
