Cayuse War (1847-1855) - Began with the "Whitman Massacre" in Nov 1847 and ended with the surrender, trial and execution of five of the accused Cayuse murderers on 3 Jun 1850. The Indians were finally defeated and placed on a reservation with the Umatilla Indians in 1855. Links: Sources:
