Battery Spanish War

Endicott Period (1890-1910)

Part of the Harbor Defense of San Francisco.

Originally built as an emergency Endicott Period coastal gun battery with two 8" Modified Rodman rifles mounted on iron Rodman carriages. This battery was just two concrete pads with a center pintle mount for a Rodman carriage and a protective concrete traverse fronted with earth. The battery was completed and accepted for service in 1900, well after the emergency was over. The RCBs for 1903 and 1909 show both concrete mounts in place with two iron carriages but only a single rifle mounted.

Current Status

No period guns or carriages in place.
