Thomas Lincoln Casey (1831-1896) - Born 10 May 1831 in Sackets Harbor, New York. A career U.S. Army officer, engineer and United States Military Academy graduate who rose to the rank of Major General, U.S. Army. Son of Major General Silas Casey. Died 25 Mar 1896 while on active duty in Washington, D.C.

MG Thomas Lincoln Casey

He entered the United States Military Academy and graduated in the Class of 1852 ranking first out of 43 graduates. He served as Chief of Engineers (1888-1895). He headed the Office of Public Buildings and Grounds, District of Columbia, (1877-1881). He built the State, War, and Navy Department Building, which is now the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, completed the Washington Monument and worked on the Library of Congress building. During the U.S. Civil War he oversaw the completion of Fort Knox (1) and worked on Fort Gorges and Fort Scammel.He taught engineering at the United States Military Academy (1854-1859).

General Casey died 25 Mar 1896 while on active duty in Washington, D.C., he was buried at the Silas Casey Lot in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.

Fort Casey (1) in Washington State is named for him.
