Camp Harris (1) (1861-1863) - A Confederate U.S. Civil War training Camp established in 1861 near Estill Springs, Franklin County, Tennessee. Abandoned in 1863. Camp Harris Marker History of Camp Harris Established in 1861 as a Confederate U.S. Civil War training camp in Estill Springs, Franklin County, Tennessee. Later became a fortified camp guarding railroad bridges over the Elk River. Confederate General Braxton Bragg established a temporary command post here in June 1863 during his withdrawal to Chattanooga. Abandoned in 1863. Current Status Marker on Tennessee Hwy 16.
