Bay Street Armoury (1915-Present) - A Canadian Federal Armoury established in 1915 in present day Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Active military armoury.

Bay Street Armoury History

Built between 1914-1915 as a part of a program to reform and expand the Active Volunteer Canadian Militia prior to the start of World War I. The armoury was built as a large rectangular brick and steel structure in the Tudor Revival style with administrative offices along the two long sides. Includes a large open central area for drills and parades. Towers guard each side of a large troop door centered at the front.

World War II Units:

  • 5th (British Columbia) Coast Brigade, RCA: Victoria
    • 55th Heavy Battery: Victoria
    • 56th Heavy Battery: Victoria
    • 60th Heavy Battery: Victoria
    • 17th Searchlight Battery (CD)

Current Status

Active armoury. Home to the Museum of the 5th (BC) Regiment RCA and the following units:

  • 5th (BC) Field Artillery Regiment
  • 5th (BC) Field Artillery Regiment Band
