White River War (1879-1880) - Started 29 Sep 1879 at the White River Agency in Colorado with a conflict between the U.S. Army and the Ute Indian tribe. Ended 1880 with a treaty that removed most of the Utes to reservations in Utah. Fort Crawford was established in 1880 to enforce the treaty and to protect the Utes from angry settlers.
