Father Le Loutre's War (1749-1755) - Started in 1749 with the establishment of Halifax by British forces in violation of a treaty with the Mi'kmaq Indians in 1726.

The war ended in 1755 with the defeat of the Mi'kmaq Indians, Acadians and French in the Battle of Fort Beausejour (3–16 Jun 1755). Father Le Loutre was imprisoned and the removal of the Acadians from the area began. The following French & Indian War saw the British forces round up French settlers. The British deported the Acadians and burned their villages to prevent their return. With the fall of Louisbourg in 1758, the remaining Acadians in the French colonies were deported.
