Fort Skalkaho (1877-1877) - A Nez Perce War settler fort established in 1877 near present day Hamilton, Ravalli County, Montana. Abandoned in 1877. History of Fort SkalkahoEstablished in 1877, this fort was built by John Catlin and other settlers, in response to the news that the hostile Nez Perces were advancing into the Bitterroot Valley. The post was built 100' square and 12 feet high, with walls at the base three feet thick. Abandoned in 1877. Current StatusNo markers and no remains.
