Kootenai Post (1) (1808-1811) - A North West Company trading post first established by Finan McDonald in 1808 along the Kootenai River across from present day Libby in Lincoln County, Montana. Abandoned and moved to the site of Kootenai Post (2) in 1811. HistoryEstablished in 1808 by Finan McDonald on the North Bank of the Kootenai River across from the present day town of Libby in Lincoln County, Montana. Said to have consisted of two leather lodges and a log building. Moved to the site of Kootenai Post (2) in 1811.
