Robert C. Buchanan (1811-1878) - Born 1 Mar 1811 in Baltimore, Maryland. A career U.S. Army infantry officer who was a graduate of the United States Military Academy. Died 29 Nov 1878 in Washington DC and buried in Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington DC.

He entered the United States Military Academy 1 Jul 1826 and graduated 1 Jul 1830 in the Class of 1830 ranking 31st out of 42.

General Buchanan served in the Black Hawk War (1832), the Second Seminole War (1835-1842), the Mexican War (1846-1848) and the U.S. Civil War (1861-1865).

General Buchanan retired from active service on 31 Dec 1870 after 30 years of service. He died on 29 Nov 1878 in Washington DC at age 67. He is buried in Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington DC.
