Apache Wars (1849-1886) - Started 1849 after the Mexican War transferred much of the southwest to U.S. control. A war between the U.S. Army and various Apache Indian tribes in the southwest. The major conflicts ended with the surrender of Geronimo and his renegades in 1886 although some incidents continued for years.
