'''Fort St. James (1821-)''' - Originally established as Lake Stuart Post by [[Simon Fraser]] for the North West Company in 1806. The fort was taken over by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1821 and renamed Fort St. James. The fort, rebuilt four times, continued as an important trading post right into the twentieth century. Located on the southeastern shore of Stuart Lake at the confluence of the Stuart and Necoslie river the fort is a National Historic Site with some original buildings dating to the 1890's.
