King Philip's War (1675-1678) Known as the first major Indian war between hostile Indians and English colonists in northern New England. The Indian forces were led by Metacomet who was known as King Philip. King Philip was killed on 12 Aug 1676 by Puritian Rangers under the command of Major Benjamin Church but the war continued until a treaty was signed at Casco Bay in April 1678. Links: |
