Established in 1892 on land donated by a committee of prominent Austin citizens, the camp has expanded  and contracted over the years, in the 1980's it was about 375 acres. The first building, an arsenal, was built in 1915 and the camp has expanded over the years to include many other buildings.

Camp Mabry (1892-present) - Established in 1892 from donated land and named after Brigadier General Woodford H. Mabry a former Adjutant General of Texas (1891-1898). Presently the Headquarters of Texas Military Forces.

Current Status

Active Texas National Guard military installation. The camp was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. Camp Mabry Military History Museum is located in Building 6. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday. Call the museum at 512-406-6916 to schedule a visit and get additional directions.
