Fort Chaffee
Fort Chaffee (1941-Present) - First established in 1941 as Camp Chaffee in Sebastian County, Arkansas. Named for Major General Adna R. Chaffee Jr., re-named Fort Chaffee on 21 Mar 1956. Active Military Installation, Arkansas National Guard.

Fort Chaffee History
Established in September 1941 as Camp Chaffee in Sebastian County, Arkansas. Officially activated in March 1942 and permanently designated as Fort Chaffee on 21 Mar 1956. The post served as a training base during World War II and as a personnel processing center after the war until it was deactivated in 1946. The post was reactivated in 1948 and trained soldiers for the Korean War but was deactivated again in 1959. The post was reactivated again in 1961 as the Cold War heated up.
