Charles S. Lovell
Charles Swain Lovell (1811-1871) - Born 13 Feb 1811 in Hull, Massachusetts. A career U.S. Army Infantry Officer who served in the Second Seminole War, the Mexican War and the U.S. Civil War. He rose through the enlisted ranks and then as a commissioned officer to the rank of brevet Brigadier General. Died 3 Jan 1871, Louisville, Kentucky.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private in January 1831 and rose through the enlisted ranks to quartermaster, sergeant-major. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in October 1837.
He served in Second Seminole War, the Mexican War and the U.S. Civil War.
He died of a heart attack on 3 Jan 1871 at Taylor Barracks in Louisville, Kentucky, and is buried in Cavehill Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky. (Section B, Lot 1205-B)
