TPS-1D Medium Range Search Radar Set - A 160 mile range Search Radar set developed by Bell Telephone Laboratories. First manufactured by Western Electric Company and later licensed for manufacture to other companies such as Raytheon, Bendix and foreign companies such as Microlambda in Italy. Used in the U.S. Lashup System the early 1950s. Usually replaced in the U.S. Permanent Radar System with the FPS-3 or FPS-8 search radars.
