Thomas J. Rodman
Thomas Jackson Rodman (1816-1871) - Born 31 Jul 1816 in Salem, Indiana. A career U.S. Army officer, engineer and inventor for whom the Rodman gun was named. He was responsible for significant advances in cannon manufacture, gun powder improvements and projectile development. Died 7 Jun 1871, at Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Illinois.
He entered the United States Military Academy 1 Jul 1837 and graduated 1 Jul 1841 in the Class of 1841 ranking 7th out of 52.
