Fort Preston (1) (1840-184?) - Established as a Texas Ranger post during the Texas Republic period by Col. William G. Cooke (Pierce disputes that it even existed).

Location: Located on a bend in the Red River West of Denison, Texas. The old town of Preston and Fort Preston are now located under Lake Texoma in Grayson County, Texas. Exact location unknown.
