Camp Alvord (1864 - 1866) - Established by Capt. George E. Curry and troops of the 1st Oregon Volunteer Cavalry and named after Brig. Gen. Benjamin Alvord. The post was abandoned in Sep 1864 and reestablished by Capt. F.B. Sprague and Capt. Borland in Sep 1865. Camp was again abandoned in Jun 1966 and the troops moved to nearby Camp C.F. Smith.
