Fort Fraser (1837-1838) - A U.S. Army post established in 1837 by Lieutenant Colonel William S. Foster, 4th U.S. Infantry, in Polk County, Florida. Named for Captain Upton S. Fraser, who was killed in the Dade Massacre, 28 Dec 1835. Abandoned in 1838.

History
A U.S. Army post was established on 31 Dec 1837 by Lieutenant Colonel William S. Foster and troops from the 4th U.S. Infantry. Used as a commissary depot in January 1838 by Assistant Commissary Officer, Lieutenant James McClure, 1st U.S. Infantry who died at Fort Brooke 5 Apr 1838.
The post was abandoned in May 1838 but may have been occupied during the Third Seminole War and the U.S. Civil War.

Marker only on Fort Fraser Trail in Polk County, Florida.
