Mission San Lorenzo de Ivitachuco (1633-1704) - An Apalachee Spanish mission established in 1633 in present day Jefferson County, Florida. Abandoned in 1704. HistoryThe only Apalachee mission not destroyed in early 1704 during Queen Anne's War by English and Creek Indian forces under ex Carolina Governor James Moore. The Mission Indians turned over the church's gold and silver objects to the invaders and the mission/village was spared. The mission was abandoned a short time later and the people began the migration toward St. Augustine. Current StatusJefferson County, Florida
