Van Orsdale (Cullum 2425), 7th U.S. Infantry, in present day Nome, Nome Census Area, Alaska. Named for Colonel (Bvt Major General) Jefferson Columbus Davis, 23rd U.S. Infantry, Department Commander in 1867 when Alaska was purchased. Abandoned in 1919. HistoryEstablished by Major John T.
