Mission San Antonio de Bacuqua (16??-1704) - A Spanish mission established in the Apalachee province in present day Leon County, Florida. Abandoned in ????. The rebels killed eight Spaniards including three friars at Mission San Antonio de Bacuqua and burned all eight of the local missions. A punitive expedition was sent from St. Augustine and a battle ensued in which both sides suffered a large number of casualties. The rebels were eventually convinced to surrender and the rebellion ended. Likely destroyed in early 1704 during Queen Anne's War by English and Creek Indian forces under ex Carolina Governor James Moore. Current StatusArcheological site only in Leon County, Florida
