Small British Revolutionary War fort established in 1776 to protect the opening of the Cape Fear River. A minor skirmish occurred on September 6th, 1776 when 150 Continental troops under the leadership of Colonel [[Thomas Polk]] made their way across the Cape Fear River. Fort George (20) (1776) - A minor Revolutionary War fortification situated on Bald Head Island, Brunswick County, North Carolina.
