HistoryThe town of Tuscarora was founded in Elko County after a successful 1867 expedition by trader William Heath to find gold. As miners flocked to the town in 1867–1870, a fort was built to protect miners from potential Indian raids. It is unclear if the fort was ever involved in an attack. Current StatusNo visible remains.
