Located on Brenton Point, Newport County, Rhode Island. This battery was serviced from Fort Adams (1). Originally built as a temporary World War II coastal gun battery with four 155mm M1917A1 rapid fire guns mounted on M1917 Mobile Carriages emplaced on circular concrete Panama mounts. This battery was deactivated on 26 Mar 1943 as Battery AMTB 923 (1) was accepted for service.
Current StatusPart of Ocean Drive State Park, Aquidneck Island, Newport County, Rhode Island. No period guns or mounts in place but one of the concrete Panama mounts is visible and well cared for.
