Rochester Air Force Station (1956-1957) - A Cold War U.S. Air Force Radar Station established in 1955. Located near Rochester in Olmsted County, Minnesota. Initially assigned a Permanent ID of M-101. Closed in 1957. HistoryEstablished in 1955 and became operational in September 1956 as Rochester Air Force Station manned by the 808th Aircraft Control & Warning (AC&W) Squadron. Initial equipment included the TPS-1D search radar. Closed on 8 Sep 1957. Physical PlantThe facility consists of eleven structures on 23 acres and included a mess hall, barracks, a large garage/shop, and two storage buildings. Smaller buildings included a water supply pump house and a smaller building. A large earth-mounded water supply reservoir provided water.
