Rome Arsenal (1813-1873) - A U.S. Army arsenal established in 1813 during the War of 1812 in present day Rome, Oneida County, New York. Abandoned in 1873.
Rome Arsenal History
Built as a three-acre fortification in 1813 during the War of 1812 that included barracks, arsenal building, a magazine, workshops, and other support buildings.
Abandoned in 1873.
Current Status
A marker and restored commandant's quarters in Rome, Oneida County, New York. Other buildings may also be from the arsenal period but are now commercial property.
