Battery Smur (1900-1920) - Battery Smur was built at Fort Stevens between Aug 1899 and Apr 1900 at a cost of $11,954.57 and was transfered for service 28 Jun 1900. The Battery is named after 3rd Lt. Elias P. Smur who was killed at the Battle of Lyons's Creek, 19 Oct 1814 during the War of 1812.
