Fort Lytle (1863-1864) - A Union U.S. Civil War fort built in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Abandoned in 1864. Also known as Star Fort (3).
Fort Lytle HistoryA Union U.S. Civil War earthworks fort built as a five pointed star on Academy Hill just east of Poplar Street between present day 13th and 14th street. The walls were 20 foot high surrounded by 10 to 15 foot dry ditches. Built with a central blockhouse and mounts for five guns. Current StatusNo remains.
