Battery Turman

Battery Turman (1899-1918) - Battery Reuben Turman is a concrete Endicott Period Coastal Battery located on Fort Casey, Washington. Named after Reuben Turman. The Battery was begun August 1899 and completed January 1901 and transferred to the Coastal Artillery 16 Jun 1902 at a cost of $18,850. The guns were removed from the Battery in 1918.

Battery Turman History

Battery Turman was designed to protect both the Straight of Juan De Fuca and the Admiralty Inlet to Puget Sound. Originally built with two, 5" M1897 rifles mounted on M1896 balanced pillar carriages.
